Previous works include \u201cBack to the Blue Coast\u201d (AlfaMusic\/Egea 2020), \u201cRoots Interchange\u201d (2015), produced between Italy and the USA with Americans Pat Bianchi on Hammond organ and Carmen Intorre Jr. on drums, already the rhythm section of the legendary Pat Martino Trio.<\/p>\n<p>After graduating from the \u201cCivica Scuola di Jazz\u201d in Milan, where he studied among others with Franco Cerri and Enrico Intra, Alessandro Florio soon began his concert activity in Italy, performing for a short period with Franco Cerri\u2019s Guitar Ensemble and for four years with the Urban Jazz Trio, ensembles based on repertoires of original compositions.<\/p>\n<p>Having moved to the Netherlands in 2008 to study at the Prince Claus Conservatorium where he obtained a Bachelor\u2019s degree in guitar, arranging, and composition, he later earned a Master\u2019s degree in Jazz Performance, studying between the Netherlands and New York under the guidance of Freddie Bryant, Mark Whitfield, Peter Bernstein, Paul Bollenback, Ed Cherry, and Frank Wingold.<\/p>\n<p>In 2013, during his Master\u2019s studies, he was awarded a Jazz Performance Scholarship from the Prince Claus Conservatorium, Groningen (Netherlands).<\/p>\n<p>Throughout his career he has had the opportunity to collaborate, record, and perform in Europe, the USA, and Asia with outstanding musicians, including Alex Sipiagin, Seamus Blake, Mark Gross, David Berkman, Freddie Bryant, Gene Jackson, Don Braden, Pat Bianchi, Carmen Intorre Jr., Jumaane Smith, Troy Roberts, Kyle Koehler, Greg Cohen, Bruce Williams, Fabrizio Bosso, Stefano Di Battista, Flavio Boltro, Gege&#8217; Telesforo, Max Ionata, Daniele Scannapieco, Dario Deidda, Tullio De Piscopo, James Senese, Tony Esposito, Franco Cerri, Silvia Mezzanotte, Peppe Vessicchio, Marco Zurzolo, Ernesto Vitolo, Giovanni Amato, Stjepko Gut, Ernesto Aurignac 4tet, and many others.<\/p>\n<p>He has performed both as a leader and as a sideman in Italy and abroad: USA, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Spain, Greece, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Romania, Switzerland, Indonesia, and Thailand.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the various albums under his own name, he has recorded as a sideman in dozens of different Italian and international jazz ensembles.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2017 he has been the sole lead guitarist of \u201cUn Orchestra per Pino Daniele,\u201d together with the very members of the historic band of the Neapolitan guitarist (James Senese, Tullio De Piscopo, Tony Esposito, Ernesto Vitolo), collaborating occasionally in the bands of De Piscopo and Esposito.<\/p>\n<p>He is the founder of \u201cJazz e Leadership collaborativa,\u201d a course that has become a special class within the Master\u2019s program of the prestigious MIP Politecnico di Milano, which explores the parallels between Jazz and corporate organizational structure, with the aim of disseminating and explaining the jazz language also in non-musical contexts.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2017 he has been a Jazz Guitar professor at the Conservatories of Udine, Catanzaro, Matera, Cesena, and at the \u201cG.F. Ghedini\u201d Conservatory of Cuneo, where he is currently a tenured professor.<\/p>\n<p>He was also a professor at the Conservatory of Pavia for the course he himself conceived and founded, \u201cTheory in Practice,\u201d based on the specific improvisation techniques of the great Barry Harris.<\/p>\n<p>Alessandro Florio ha pubblicato in qualit\u00e0 di leader diversi album, tra cui il recentissimo \u201cControra Avenue\u201d di imminente uscita, registrato a New York con guest Troy Roberts.
