Alessandro Florio started to play the guitar almost by chance at the age of 11 before getting into Jazz and graduating at the age of 19 at the “Civica Scuola di Jazz” in Milan (Italy) where he had the opportunity of studying with some of the most important musicians of the Italian Jazz scene (Franco Cerri, Enrico Intra..). After playing for a couple of years in Franco Cerri’s Guitar Ensemble he soon began to write his own music and forming his own bands (Urban Jazz Trio and Alessandro Florio Trio) touring all around Italy. After some years of playing as a leader and as a side man, he decided to move to Holland to study at the Prins Claus Conservatorium in Groningen (Holland) where he obtained a Bachelor and a Master degree studying between Holland and New York with Freddie Bryant, Peter Bernstein, Mark Whitfield, Paul Bollenback and Ed Cherry. There he has the chance to study and often plays concerts along with some of the most interesting players of the New York’s scene as Alex Sipiagin, Mark Gross, Robin Eubanks, Dave Berkman, JD Walter, Ralph Peterson, Freddie Bryant, Dena DeRose, Gene Jackson, Joris Teepe, Don Braden, Ali Jackson, Pat Bianchi, Carmen Intorre… He toured as a leader and as a sideman in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Austria, Romania, New York, New Jersey, Germany, Greece, Belgium, Switzerland, Holland, Indonesia and of course Italy. He released two albums as a leader: “Taneda” (2014) and acclaimed “Roots Interchange” (2015) along with the rhythm section of the legendary guitarist Pat Martino: organist Pat Bianchi and drummer Carmen Intorre Jr. He has worked with: Pat Bianchi, Carmen Intorre Jr, Alex Sipiagin, Mark Gross, Gene Jackson, Freddie Bryant, Joris Teepe, Don Braden, Franco Cerri, Jasper Soffers, Gege’ Telesforo, Dario Deidda and many others.
